The ARTIT Association is a cross-disciplinary, artistic platform, focusing on contemporary art and sustainability. We promote the viability of a creative practice which is simultaneously engaged in with the social and ecological concerns of our world today. Issues related to sustainability are usually considered the responsibility of environmentalists, scientists or politicians rather than artists. On the contrary, we believe that artists should also be involved in this conversation, as art can create a global ideology about sustainability by raising awareness and suggesting potential solutions. We believe that existing systems, structures, theories and formulas are failing to solve our global environmental, social, economic and political problems. To solve these issues, we need to find a cross-cultural language to share our dream of living in an inclusive, democratic, equal and sustainable world and unite people to become active citizens for developing our future. We believe that art, with its ability to transcend political and social boundaries has the capacity to be the common language for all.
Our activities can be divided into three categories:
-Developing cultural and artistic events as a means of alternative political expression to encourage and fuel a global and dynamic democratic life.
-Running cross-disciplinary artist residency projects, which is a space of encounter among different cultures to foster creativity and knowledge production.
-Organizing art talks, art walks, and art labs and other networking events and workshops in order to create a platform for developing cross-disciplinary art projects which would eventually have a positive impact on our society in terms of social cohesion.
